Project 4 - Abstract Motion

Our task was to create 30 - 60 sec long Abstract motion graphics.

Moodboard:

Fig.1.1 Moodboard

The artworks on the left are basically my art direction. I chose this because the art is so simple and easy to draw but still looks interesting to look at. The posters are the overall feels of my motion graphics. I wanted to do kinetic typography video with some illustration in it to enhance whats being explained in the animation. Lastly, the colors, i simply picked color yellow because the artwork I chose was mainly yellow. I chose blue because it would create great contrast with yellow color.

Fig.1.2 Bedtime Stories | Tom Hardy reads The Problem with Problems | CBeebies

I chose this video where tom hardy is talking about how to deal with problems. I came across with this video and thought i could use this for my assignment so i watched the video and i got few ideas so i decided to go with this video. The video was too long so I had to cut out some important parts and combined together.

I chose this songs because I wanted to have a hopecore vibes hat we see on tiktok a lot these days. I did some research on what song they were using and what song is suitable and I found this song. I was able to put this and video together well so I was happy with the progress so far.

Progress

Fig.3.1 Progress "Procreate"

I used Procreate on my ipad to draw out the elements I needed for the motion graphics. First I drew few elements and exported in png and inported in ae to edit and I went back to procreate whenever I needed new elements.

Fig.3.2 Progress "Scene 1,2"

I used different types of fonts because that was my art direction. I placed them keeping the balance. I made the scrambled lines to represent the problems. I made 3 types of them in procreate on my ipad and made it looks like moving.

Fig.3.3 Progress "Scene 3"

Same thing as last scene, I created a balance with fonts, size of the texts, and the placement.

Fig.3.4 Progress "Scene 4"

When the all texts pop out, the screen goes black making black part disappear and come back to normal and the word problems is gone. This scene is actually describing lights going off because later the audio talks about sleeping to deal with the problems.

Fig.3.5 Progress "Scene 5"

I made the 2nd problems appear from first problem to enhance the meaning of breed.

Fig.3.6 Progress "Scene 6"

In this scene, the hand is feeding the scrambled lines (problems) to problems because I felt like it make more sense instead of giving actual food.

Fig.3.7 Progress "Scene 9"

I made the graph to show that many people have problems because audio was talking about that. I actually made like 9 of them to make it look like color is filling up because I don't know how to do it in after effects.

Fig.3.8 Progress "Scene 10"

This is my favorite scene. I put 2 faces that are different color to show they are different people and made them face each other representing talking. I created great balance with the faces, fonts, size of the texts, and colors.

Fig.3.9 Progress "Scene 11"

I created great balance with the fonts, size of the texts, and colors in this scene too.

Fig.3.10 Progress "Scene 12"

I made blanket come from bottom covering the all texts to make it look like going sleep to enhance the meaning of snuggle down.

Fig.3.11 Progress "sound effects"

When i was almost done with the animation, I thought it would be better with sound effects so I went to website called "freesound" and got sounds for shush sound, whip sound, and lights on off sound.
