Final Project

Our task was to make 6-10 sec action scene animation in blender using the character sir provided. We were allowed to use any free models from website for background or objects if we need.

Reference:

Fig.1.1 Action scene reference video
(Its a youtube video but i cant find the video so I just put the video i screen recorded)

I watched so many reference videos and first I wanted to do 2 person fighting but i knew it was gonna be too much and I didn't wanna do something too boring or too easy to challenge myself thats why I chose this action scene.

Story of the character, animation

- Age

Young Adult (18-25): Eager to prove themselves, possibly inexperienced but driven by passion.

 - Background

Origins: a fallen noble family.

A former noble, now a lone wanderer, the character lost their family and title due to a rival clan's betrayal. With no resources, they self-taught themselves swordsmanship in an abandoned house, once part of their estate. Haunted by loss, they train relentlessly to reclaim their family's honor and seek justice.

- Character wants

The character wants to master their swordsmanship and reclaim their family's honor. They aim to clear their family's name and seek justice against the rival clan that caused their downfall.

- Character goals

The character's goal is to confront and defeat the rival clan responsible for their family's downfall, restore their family's honor, and reclaim their rightful place in society.

Progress

Fig.2.1 Free sword model from cgtrader

First, I went to look for free sword model and I found the website called cgtrader. I downloaded it from the website.

Fig.2.2 Progress "Key framing"

I didn't really understand the anticipation and all that, so I decided to put the key frame when his foot leave and when it touch the ground for the rough animation.

Fig.2.3 Progress "rough draft animation"

I got feedback from lecturer and he said I need to observe weight shift and avoid sliding feet to make it more real which I was gonna do because that was rough draft animation.

FIg.2.4 Progress "adding background, target"

after I was done with finalizing the movements, I downloaded a target and old abandoned house from same website that I used for the sword and put them in the action scene file and arranged them.

Fig2.4 Progress "Key framing camera"

after that, I worked on the camera angles. To make it looks more dynamic and interesting and storytelling, I started from outside of the house and show the vibe of the house and used the few different angles.

Fig.2.5 Action scene animation without face expression.

FIg.2.6 Progress "Face expression"

After the camera angle, I realized I didn't do the face expression so I worked on it at the end. I made his face looks angry and serious based on the backstory of him. I also changed the camera angles a bit to make it easier to see whats happening because it was moving too much.

Final Outcome

Feedback: I need to observe weight shift and avoid sliding feet to make it more real.
