Task 3 & Final Project: Original Comic Plot, Cover Page, and One Page Introduction

INSTRUCTION

Task 3: Original Comic Plot, Cover page, and One Page Introduction

We were to create an original story based on a Three-Act Structure and create a comic cover based on our original story and create an animated one-page intro.

Title: DEATH OR ALIVE

    Comic Cover

Fig.2.1 Comic Cover Sketch

This was the sketch for the comic cover. The shadow in the background is the monster and it's a bit transparent because only he can see it. I got feedback that I should get rid of his eyes and make the monster into a shadow coming out from his legs and change the font of the title. I was also told that maybe I can add the girl he likes and his best friend on the wall as shadows.

I changed a few parts based on the feedback I got I tried to add the girl and his best friend but there was no space to add so I gave up. The shadow coming out from his body is the monster he corporate with. That describes this monster and he shares his body. I made it blurred because it's a shadow and usually only he can see it. I chose this font because it shows his rough life and also has a dangerous atmosphere that symbolizes a monster.

When I was struggling with coming up with ideas for the comic page, Ms. Anis gave me feedback that I should use free styles panel composition and make all panels from the monster's POV. I tried to showcase the flow from he trying to give up his life to the monster saving his life. So the reader will want to read more because they want to read.

REFLECTION

This project was the most challenging project for me. I have never thought about the comic story so I had no idea what to do. I've learned how to display the story and what it is about visually and effectively. Also, I've learned how to engage the viewer's interest because we had to make the one-page intro and it had to be something that makes viewers want to read more. I think this skill is really important and essential for design students to make something that shows what we want to tell or describe effectively so I want to keep this skill and grow it and use this in modules that I have ahead and I hope it can improve me as a designer.
